Reduce video file size to 20 MB

Use this page when an attachment form or sharing service asks for a video under 20 MB. The target is already selected, so you can choose a file without estimating a bitrate or adjusting codec settings.

A size target is a ceiling, not a promise of identical quality. A longer video must share that budget across more seconds. To keep more detail, trim unnecessary footage before compression; use Custom if your destination allows a different size.

Frequently asked questions

Will the output be exactly 20 MB?

No. Shrinkle aims below the limit and leaves a safety margin. The preset uses decimal megabytes: 20 MB is 20,000,000 bytes. A smaller result is expected and can still satisfy a 20 MB attachment limit.

Can I compress an MP4 to 20 MB?

Yes, if the browser and FFmpeg engine can read the file. When encoding is needed, Shrinkle produces an MP4 video. A damaged or unsupported input may fail, and very long clips may need trimming to fit usefully.

What happens if my video is already less than 20 MB?

With trimming off, Shrinkle offers the original file for download instead of compressing it again. It does not add data to make a small file reach the target.

How can I make a long video less than 20 MB without losing the important part?

Enable Trim first and choose the section you need. Keeping fewer seconds gives the encoder a larger budget per second. Very demanding targets can still reduce visible detail; check the result before using it.
