When your video is too large for Discord

A screen recording or game clip can exceed the upload limit even when it is only a few seconds long. Shrinkle starts with the 20 MB target selected: choose the clip, download the smaller file, then attach it in Discord.

To send a large video on Discord, keep the moment that matters. Enable Trim first to remove an intro or a long pause before compression. A shorter clip gives the remaining footage more room within the same file-size budget.

Frequently asked questions

Why does Discord say my video is too large?

The file may exceed the upload limit for your account. Duration, resolution, frame rate, and recording detail all affect its size. Discord currently lists a 20 MB limit for non-Nitro uploads; paid plans or experiments can differ.

Will Shrinkle make my video under 20 MB?

The selected preset checks that the result is below 20 MB before offering it for download. If a clip cannot fit, Shrinkle reports an error rather than offering an oversized result. Try trimming it to keep a shorter moment.

Will compression keep every detail in my game clip?

Compression is lossy. Fast motion and busy scenes can lose detail, and Shrinkle may reduce resolution or frame rate to meet the target. Preview the downloaded video before sharing it.

Does Shrinkle send the video to Discord for me?

No. Shrinkle prepares a downloadable file locally. You choose when and where to upload that file in Discord.
